Aeroflex insulations may look similar to other closed-cell elastomeric foam products, but its performance makes it a true standout.

A breakthrough blend EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is the key to Aeroflex’s value-added performance. This unique compound imparts a higher level of durability and thermal stability that can’t be matched by NBR/PVC (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber/Polyvinyl Chloride) insulations.

Aeroflex insulations have a molecular structure that is non-polar, meaning that they are uniquely stable despite exposure to moisture, sunlight, ozone and a broad range of temperatures — including very low temperatures. Other closed-cell foam insulations are classified as polar, meaning that they are more reactive to water and generally less stable.

These differences give way to a host of benefits to engineers, installers and owners.

High-end moisture protection at standard costs

Aeroflex insulations provide excellent protection against all types of moisture intrusion -- even in tropical environments and applications with high indoor humidity. Aerocel® ULP® (ultra-low permeance) insulation provides moisture resistance comparable to expensive cellular glass.

Stable, efficient thermal performance

Aeroflex EPDM-based elastomers have a low density, closed-cell structure that is filled with nitrogen gas. This provide a very stable low K-value of 0.23-0.25 BTU in/ft2 hr.F at 32°F to 75°F mean temperature.

Longer lasting, better looking installations

And when insulations stay dry and intact, thermal properties remain stable.

Easy to install

Most of the time Aeroflex insulations do not require any extra jacketing or vapor barriers so installers save time and owners save money.

Broad application capability

A wide range of sizes and thicknesses exist across all Aeroflex products, making it possible to obtain the exact R-value desired without having to double up on insulation. A wide range of standard operating temperatures ranging from -297°F (-183°C) up to +257°F (125°C) make it easy to meet the requirements of a wide range of heating and cooling applications, while specialty products are available for applications with extreme temperatures from below freezing to VRF requirements of +248°F (120°C).
